Serving the housing needs of individuals with disabilities is at the core of the North Coast Community Homes mission. However, the physical house is only a part of what makes a house a home.

NCCH Housing Service Manager, Janice Stahl, received word that a NCCH Summit County resident had recently shuttered nearly all his household furniture. He had been hospitalized due to an illness and was about to return home to a nearly empty apartment. When word spread to volunteers of Isabella’s Closet, they quickly got to work.

Isabella’s Closet, a program of North Coast Community Homes, makes household basics available to help individuals establish a stable and comfortable home. Items such as furniture, cookware, dishes, small appliances, and other household items have been donated and are distributed to serve the community's needs.

Stahl offered, “When our volunteers learned the resident was returning to a nearly empty apartment, they asked if they could gather items from Isabella’s Closet and help make the sparse apartment more of a home to welcome Clarence’s return from his hospital stay.”

The core of the NCCH mission is to help provide a stable, safe, and supportive environment for the residents to live their best life. Stahl offered, “Seeing the joyful smile on the resident and the emotion of returning to a place that was so inviting really touch the hearts of the volunteers. It made the full day’s work on a Saturday incredibly rewarding.”
